Breakdown Cover

When I renewed my car insurance last year, I took the standard offering of breakdown cover that my insurer made available as it seemed the easiest thing to do and I imagined it was cheaper.

I had reason to use it a couple of times last year and the service was functional at best, with the service being outsourced to a local contractor who's business was really to tow you away rather than actually try any repairs. So this year I junked that option in favour of a dedicated breakdown recovery service as peace of mind is very important, especially if you do a lot of motorway driving.
