Super fast Wifi!

Wireless net to get speed boost - BBC

Wow, according to this, those boffs are working towards a new wireless standard that will be 10x faster than 802.11g.

Cool, now those Linux geeks with their Knoppix and net stumbler can steal all your data 10x faster!

Kill Remotely

I found an app I happened to write a little while back and just uploaded it on to the website as freeware. I don't think I'll be challenging Microsoft in the software development stakes just yet, but it's not a bad first effort.

I've called it WMIProcesses and basically it lets you terminate processes running on remote machines in your network. It uses WMI so will work "straight of of the box" with Windows 2000/XP/2003 machines.

You do need to have the .Net runtime installed to use the app, and you do you need to have admin rights on the box you want to connect to.

Since I keep hearing that all household devices will soon be network enabled, I look forward to the day I can terminate the oven or iron from the office if I leave the house without turning them off.

Spyware!!

Spyware is such a nuisance for computer users these days, worse in some ways than viruses I would say. And getting rid of them can be such a time consuming thing. I've been playing around with Windows XP SP2 and it seems pretty cool. Looks like it will go a long way to sorting out Spyware, and also it the built in firewall has been improved greatly.

Since Spyware has been occupying my thoughts, Uretopia has just launched a new site called Remove Spyware with some info on what spyware is, how to prevent it, and how to remove it.

Also been using Firefox browser quite a bit and really enjoying using it. And since most spyware hijacks IE, using Firefox seems like a decent alternative.
